The Actum Leyden Alchemy Letter

The actum leyden alchemy letter is basically an alchemical manuscript depicting a secret alchemy process called the dew and salt method. It references alchemists working with dew and sea salt in a highly guarded secret alchemy recipe or formula. Some versions of the actum leyden alchemy letter also mention the use of gold chloride as well as silver chloride. Wrapping this ‘philosopher’s stone” in wax is also mentioned as well as melting it with gold to create what the letter calls “the projection powder”. Multiplication is also described as well as open/closed flask and heating instructions. I dare say i believe the ingredients listed in the actum leyden letter are probably code names substituted for other substances. Advanced crystal growing comes to mind.

The Philosopher’s Stone Riddle by Steven School, Alchemist.

the philosopher's stone riddle

The Philosopher’s Stone Riddle.

With twin serpents i entwine, The four elements i combine,

First two, to make three, And then a fourth with glee,

Dissolve and coagulate, Thrice i propagate,

The elixir of life within a glass, This too shall come to pass,

The alchemist must find the secret key, To unlock nature’s mystery,

With nerves of steel, I spin the alchemical wheel,

The colors of the great work are shown, To those whose eyes have known,

To light the way, each night and day,

For sun and moon, We must swoon,

In the glass round and round, With doves of Diana it is ground,

Diana’s tree must I climb, Until it stands the test of time,

Come now uplift the glass, Nature’s last gate to pass,

Raining hellfire and brimstone, A victory over chaos is sewn.

Secret water alchemy

Did Alchemist’s find a secret dissolving water called alkahest, or a heavenly water not wetting the hands (Michael Sendivogius). Did Alchemist’s have a secret water to dissolve gem stones? Is there in alchemy a secret water that gently dissolves gold without violence? Was this the secret fire of Alchemy? Or a secret crystal water? What was Nicholas Flamel’s secret recipe for the Philosopher’s Stone of alchemy?

Some alchemical researchers have expressed opinion they believe Nicholas Flamel may have specialized in what was called the dry path of alchemy in regards to his secret recipe for the philosopher’s stone. In researching alchemical manuscripts attributed to him as well as his letter to his nephew coded words seemed to be in play to keep secret the formula for the philosopher’s stone. I remember reading a section which called for casting some forgotten ingredient upon another “smoking” and realizing their secret alchemy recipe did not list the real ingredients of the philosopher’s stone of alchemy. When a colleague purchased an unknown assortment of rare and antique books as a blind grab bag, old alchemy books were surprisingly discovered in the sealed box. One book in particular mentions saint Paul’s church yard in Paris. this book claims it has been translated from different languages and re published in different countries. it seems however that it may have come from the heart of medieval alchemy in Paris and includes works from famous alchemist’s such as Glauber, Paracelsus and others. No date has been found in this very old book. The image (in my opinion) sheds much light on Nicholas Flamel’s recipe for the philosopher’s stone by way of what appears to be identifying a certain portion of the dry path of alchemy. Modern Reprint Here

Is iron pyrite the philosopher’s stone of alchemy?

Here is a very interesting article that someone recently brought to my attention about sulfide minerals. One theory of mine is that perhaps nature evolves organic matter into iron pyrite over time through the natural process of “weathering” and that perhaps this system of natural evolution results in the end product of gold.

What is ancient alchemy?

Alchemist’s worked in three main categories which fell into the animal, plant, and mineral kingdoms. One very basic theory of the lost or secret art was that according to the bible, when “GOD” proclaimed that all things shall multiply in like kind he included the minerals as well as the animals and the plants. Ancient alchemical writers often advised in their secret alchemical manuscripts to observe the simple ways of nature. They also spoke of the four elements which were water, earth, air, and fire. The seal of Solomon supposedly depicts the secret ancient formula of alchemy which is water and fire, two of the simple tools of nature. So theoretically speaking this might be interpreted as water and fire acting upon matter (earth) in the presence of air. Although the alchemist’s were said to have worked upon a great many things, these things basically fell into the three main categories of plant, animal or mineral. Now, moving forward in recent years a theory has emerged that sulfur may in fact be the nucleus of the gold atom. One of my theories on alchemical transmutation of lead into gold, is that perhaps lead actually is gold simply missing its sulfur element as the nucleus and also containing a few impurities. If this theory were correct then alchemists were simply trying to insert the missing element which in my opinion might be more of an amalgamation than a transmutation of metals. This sounds much simpler than atomic transmutation. Alchemists were known to have experimented with metallurgy and in writings attributed to Michael Sendivogius he advised that one study the metals and their “methods of union” which to me, suggests amalgamation as opposed to transmutation. The “philosopher’s stone” has been rumored to burn with a bright blue flame when thrown into molten metal. Some ancient alchemy writings declared that this legendary alchemical substance was actually yellow. These theories to me suggests sulfur which was mentioned in the alchemical manuscripts of Theophrastus Paracelcus as well as  Michael Sendivogius and or his mentor Alexander Seton. The work of alchemy called for the holy trinity which meant salt, sulfur, and sophic mercury. Some theorists suggested that these three secret philosopher’s stone ingredients were needed while others surmised that joining the sophic mercury to the alchemical “sulfur” (The moon and the sun, or Gabritius and Beya”) would thereby produce the secret salt as a result of the hermetical wedding producing the supernatural son of the sun. Primitive metallurgy called for the purification of metals by smelting them with potash (potassium earth metal) this upon cooling would leave slag that was chipped away with a hammer to remove impurities. Alchemists were said to repeat this purification of metals until a star was seen which reminds me of the eastern star or the star of David. The symbol of purity and truth. This process was a predecessor to amalgamation since alchemists believed that “blackness” hindered fusion. If elemental sulfur is thrown into molten lead it catches on fire leaving black material (carbon) and makes a mess. With that in mind, perhaps the whole idea of alchemy was to change elemental sulfur into something else, by joining it to another element through the sophic mercury (not elemental mercury). Perhaps the secret liquid could dissolve these elements and then coagulate them through a repetition of nature’s rain cycle in the glass, theoretically into a fifth element or incombustible sulfur that would no longer be affected by fire. This is one of the reasons that Iron Pyrite or marcasite has been associated with alchemy. It is a natural mineral in which nature has joined sulfur to iron to form another element in which the qualities of the sulfur and the iron have been somewhat changed. The salt of iron, and the element of sulfur, an interesting combination according to some. Could it be an open entrance to the closed palace of the king? I get the idea that in the mineral iron pyrite, sulfur might be joining into the realm of the metals.   Article written by Steven School. Do Not Try This At Home!

Comment: Hi, I have purchased 10 of your books and 3 of your DVDs. I’ve read the books several times and watched the DVDs but I’m getting stuck on the evaporation portion of the Great work to prepare the Green Lion. I’ve given the Prima Materia the menstruum for the metal acetate path as you described in your work but after it undergoes the extraction and I get the Golden water, I begin to evaporate on low heat but it goes from clear and golden to cloudy orange and the green lion doesn’t appear, all I have is orange residue without the dark green crystals. I’ve spent the last 25 years pursuing Alchemy and so far you’re the only Alchemist I’ve found who is clarifying the Art instead of confounding and misdirecting those who wish to master the Great Work. I’m at my wits end. I used the Prima as stated in ‘Alchemy and the Green Lion’ and the menstruum for the metal acetate path but I don’t know where I’m going wrong. Could you give any clarification on why the green crystals aren’t showing and how to get past this hurdle.
I also want to thank you for illuminating the path for other seekers to find the truth.
Sincerely, Greg.

I have received emails from readers before who discovered crystals growing in their green lion, I have also seen this in my own work and even posted at least one youtube video upon this subject crystals growing in the green lion alchemy I do find this to be an interesting topic which bears further study by illuminated minds and I will share my experience upon this matter. Alchemy has always been considered a study of nature and her simple ways. The term natural generation comes to mind here from past conferences with fellow alchemists. One bit of advice in the alchemical arts has always been regarding the fact that patience is a virtue. Even the great Michael Sendivogius (among others) warned against vainglorious boasters and idolators of gold. Those who sought instant gratification were often advised not to undertake the great work. When I set down a glass mason jar of the green lion, top covered with breathable dust cover, (inverted coffee filter affixed with rubber band), and left it alone for a great length of time as I focused my attention on other areas of my life. Some considerable amount of time later my mind wandered back to those old long since forgotten experiments back there in the dark recesses of the lab and inspired me to bring them out. I discovered crystals had been growing in my green lion which had been left undisturbed for quite some time. The first noticed color was blue, one of the colors of the great work of alchemy and associated with water since many believe it to nurture the “stone” Sal petrae, or salt stone, a metallic salt crystal. Some of my readers have messaged me the same or similar results, green lion was stored for awhile, came back some time later and found crystals growing.  I also want to mention that this long term storage in glass incurred no external heat, no laying on of hands, the top was not sealed but had a breathable dust cover.  article written by Steven School on the green lion of alchemy.
