Old alchemical manuscripts variously describe two philosopher’s stones as being red or white. These colors in alchemy upon further research into medieval alchemy sometimes depict a white powder and a gold colored powder. The red philosopher’s stone of alchemy has presented more various opinions upon its actual color however it has been said in alchemy circles that alchemical manuscripts attributed to the alchemist Nicholas Flamel describe the red philosopher’s stone to actually be a gold colored powder. Other alchemists have described it as orange. I t has also been rumored that the philosopher’s stone of alchemy itself, is not a stone at all but a powder having been prepared by the alchemist using secret ingredients. Alchemy of Steven School. Most people know that plants have been used for medicinal purposes since as far back as life began. Even the animals use vegetation for medicine as did tribal healers from the rain forest to the American Indian. Primitive doctors used what was called four thieves vinegar to combat the plague which was basically a simple mixture of vinegar, garlic, onions, and oregano. I believe the true power of medicine lies within the garden which God created for us. Hence the fact that eternal life has often been associated with the garden of Eden which is said to contain the tree of life as well as the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Deep within the realm of ancient plant medicine or even herbal remedies lies the holy grail of the foundation of science as we know it today, and that is a certain portion of alchemy called spagyrics which entails the extraction of plant essences as well as the calcination of the left over plant material or caput mortuary as it were, followed by the recombination of alchemical elements, circulations, exaltations and even the extraction of plant oils through complex alchemical processes such as steam distillation. However one modern little gem has come to my attention recently, whispered into my ear from a friend as it were, about a modern device which greatly speeds and simplifies the extraction of oils from those items harvested of the garden, and that is the herb press.
