Most people know that plants have been used for medicinal purposes since as far back as life began. Even the animals use vegetation for medicine as did tribal healers from the rain forest to the American Indian. Primitive doctors used what was called four thieves vinegar to combat the plague which was basically a simple mixture of vinegar, garlic, onions, and oregano. I believe the true power of medicine lies within the garden which God created for us. Hence the fact that eternal life has often been associated with the garden of Eden which is said to contain the tree of life as well as the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Deep within the realm of ancient plant medicine or even herbal remedies lies the holy grail of the foundation of science as we know it today, and that is a certain portion of alchemy called spagyrics which entails the extraction of plant essences as well as the calcination of the left over plant material or caput mortuary as it were, followed by the recombination of alchemical elements, circulations, exaltations and even the extraction of plant oils through complex alchemical processes such as steam distillation.
